It is true that people are born with
only 2 fears - falling and loud noises -and all the others
are learnt. The good news is that because your phobia is
a learnt response a new response can be learnt to stop your
phobia.
Your phobia of being ill may have
originated from an unpleasant experience often as a young
child or from watching someone else be ill. Some may people
have even watched a tv documentary about people being ill
or have seen a horror movie and then imagined it happening
to them which has lead to a phobia of being ill. Other people
have learnt to have a phobia of being ill as a small child
by watching a friend or relative who had a phobia of being
ill. I do get asked by people to help them to stop their
phobia of being ill because they are scared that their child
will copy them and develop a phobia of being ill by watching
their parent being scared of being ill and this has been
known to happen.
