Social phobia?
Imagine what your life will be like without it...
NLP and Hypnosis have
been proved to be an extremely effective method for treating
social phobias.
The majority of clients that we see for social phobias are
treatable in 1 to 2 sessions. The sessions are usually 2
hours a number of our clients find that their social phobia
is gone before the end of the session.
Social phobias often present in one of two main ways with
the person either feeling afraid of being surrounded by lots
of people and being scared that you can't get out easily
or quickly which can be similar to agoraphobia. The other
main way that this type of phobia can present is anxiety
ranging from mild to intense when exposed to certain situations.
People with a social phobia usually experience
distress ranging from mild anxiety to full blown panic
in the following situations:
• Being introduced to other
people
• Being teased or criticized
• Being the centre of
attention
• Social situations where
the person exhibits excessive self-consciousness
• Being watched or observed
while doing something
• Having to say something
in a formal, public situation
• Meeting people in authority
("important people/authority
figures")
• Feeling insecure and
out of place in social situations ("I
don’t know what to say.")
• Embarrassing easily
(e.g. blushing)
• Making eye contact with
other people
• Swallowing, writing,
talking, making phone calls if in public
This list is not a complete list of symptoms -- other symptoms
may also be associated with a social phobia.
Emotional Symptoms: The feelings that accompany social phobia
include anxiety, intense fear, nervousness, automatic negative
thinking cycles, racing heart, blushing, excessive sweating,
dry throat and mouth, trembling, and muscle twitches.
Constant, intense anxiety is the most common feature.
People with a social phobia often know that their fear
is irrational and does not make logical sense. Nevertheless,
thoughts and feelings of anxiety persist and show no signs
of going away, without appropriate treatment.
So what's making me feel like this?
We find that the majority of people with social phobias
have an internal dialogue that just keeps running with unhelpful
thoughts and/or they are constantly imagining what other
people might be thinking about them.
Consider the true cost of
living with a social phobia.
If you are living with a social phobia, what is the real cost to your health,
your career or education and to your family life? Avoiding the issue indefinitely
would mean resigning yourself to living in fear, missing out on priceless life
experiences big and small, living a life that is just a shadow of what it will
be when the problem is gone.
For anyone earning a living, the financial toll of a social phobia is incalculable.
Living with fear means you can never concentrate fully and give your best. Lost
opportunities. Poor performance or grades. Promotions that pass you by a social
phobia will likely cost you tens, even hundreds of thousands of pounds over the
course of your lifetime, let alone the cost to your health and quality of life.
The good news is that because this like other phobias is
a learnt response it can be changed easily and responds very
well to the methods we use.
From experience we typically find
that in the majority of cases social phobias are treatable
in 1 or 2 sessions.
